An outraged single mum has spoken out and claimed that a security guard at a store where she shops told her she couldn’t enter with her son due to “coronavirus rules” amid the pandemic.

As 39-year-old Alexa Bowyer from England insisted, she visited a Harrogate store with her 7-year-old son, Ted, because she couldn’t leave him home alone.

When they arrived at the store, however, the mum and the son were allegedly confronted by a “bullish” guard who Alexa claimed made her son cry after telling them he had to wait by the entrance.

As Bowyer expressed, she had to leave the store without making a purchase because she wasn’t willing to let her son stay outside all alone.

“I laughed because I thought he was joking. I thought ‘Of course he’s joking.’ Another security guard said he can’t come in and I thought ‘He’s a child. There’s no way I can leave him outside,’” the single mother said.

“I told them it was ridiculous. I’m sure they’d just made it up on the spot… He would have been sat right by the entrance where people would have been going past and breathing on him.

“I said I wasn’t going to do that and they said to come back without him.”

After a while, the upset mother was finally able to do some shopping after entrusting her son to a man she knows from church who happened to visit the store at the time.

Following the incident, Bowyer added:

“It just left us really down. I rang the manager when I got back because I was really upset. I should’ve asked to speak to the manager at the time but I was so shocked with what happened I was not thinking straight.”

According to the mother, the manager confirmed that the security guard’s actions were not a part of the store’s policy.

A Morrisons spokesperson has also confirmed the same and claimed that the management has apologized to the mother who felt “intimidated” by the rude security guard.

“[She] was very apologetic and said she was going to have a word with the relevant security people,” Bowyer added, speaking of her chat with the store’s manager.
