A worried mother whose 10-year-old son is being bullied because of his lunchbox has received answers on social media.
The mom took to Facebook and wrote in a parenting group about her son who admitted that his classmates were ‘making fun’ of his school lunches.
The mom said she couldn’t work out why her child was being bullied, writing: “Is there something I can do to help this? He seems to be picked on a lot.”
A photo of his school lunch shows a container filled with two chopped hardboiled eggs in cupcake cases, a peach, and sliced grapes.
Her post received dozens of comments from other parents, with many criticizing her for treating her son like a baby by cutting his grapes and packing his food in paper cases.
One mother wrote: “Don’t cut his grapes, don’t use the cupcake liners and use a regular lunch box. Just being honest. Lunch box looks great, but he’s in fourth grade and a boy.”
Another parent commented: “I wouldn’t send boiled eggs, they smell. Also can you send an uncut peach? My kids like fruit whole, they’re in third and fifth grade.”
A third added: “Why are you cutting his grapes? He’s in fourth grade.”
But other parents defended the mother, saying there was nothing wrong with the lunchboxes she was preparing for her son.
One parent said: “It looks delicious. The first thing you should do is let the school know there’s an issue – there’s noting wrong with his lunches.”
Another wrote: “If it’s a specific thing, say the egg, maybe the kids are saying ‘it’s stinky’ and that’s what is getting to them. Also ask him to tell you what the other kids are eating, just to understand the why – not to conform.”
