A mother-of-two has been scarred for life after another woman stabbed her multiple times with a screwdriver.
38-year-old Stacy Dolan suffered a deep wound to the left side of her face, swelling to her upper right arm, and a laceration on her left knee after the ‘revenge’ attack.
According to reports, she was stabbed by Sharon Mather, 49, who accused her of ‘taking advantage’ of a mutual friend who gave the mother some cash.
Ms. Dolan now claims that she can no longer pose for close-up facial photos because of the scars on her lip and face.
“Since the incident, it has affected my confidence and the way I am. It has made me more conscious of being alone. I now no longer use my front door to enter or leave my house,” she expressed.
“My injuries have healed but the injury to my face has left me feeling like I have nerve damage to my top lip, it feels like I always have a fat lip.”
“There is still a slight scar that can be seen close up but can be covered with makeup.point 182 | However, I am aware of the fact that I have this scar and I am now really conscious of it.point 253 |
I am also conscious of how this has affected my modelling career and I know now that I can no longer accept work that requires me to have close up face shots,” Ms.point 133 | Dolan continued.point 148 | 1
“I have two small scars on my leg that I am conscious of. I also feel the scar on my face may have lost me work.”
Mather was sentenced to jail for five and a half years after she was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The jury heard that the attacker was angry and drunk when she stabbed Ms. Dolan with a screwdriver while one of the victim’s children slept upstairs.
Paul Treble, defending, said: “This is a nasty and unpleasant incident, but it was relatively short lived. It started at the bottom of the stairs and the blows were inflicted relatively quickly.
“As soon as the defendant realised there was a serious injury to the face, she stopped.
“The injuries were not as serious as they could have been, but I do appreciate the effect it has had upon her. The defendant was on bail for two years and lived down the road from the complainant and nothing else has happened.”
“This incident was very much out of character for her. She is a kind and helpful lady who is generous with her time. The complainant did say at one point that they were friends. She has lived a lawful life for a long time,” Treble added.
