Maritza Elizabeth from Illinois freaked out when she saw a ‘ghost baby’ sleeping next to her son on the baby monitor.
The mother-of-two glanced at the monitor expecting to see her sleeping son alone and comfortable with his cozy blanket.
But then she saw another baby’s face smiling back at the camera in a chilling and eerie way that kept her up all night.
She wrote on Facebook: “So last night I was positive there was a ghost baby in the bed with my son.
“I was so freaked out I barely slept.”
Elizabeth even went to her son’s room with a flashlight to check what was really going on. However, the darkness and fear of waking her son made her leave the room right away without getting a better look.
In the morning, she went to her child’s bedroom and she was startled to find the baby’s face still lying next to her son.
“It turns out my husband just forgot to put the mattress protector on when he changed the sheets,” she added.
“I could kill him.”
The baby’s face was just a print on the mattress but from a distance, plus complete darkness, it looked far more sinister.
Elizabeth told Kidspot Australia: “I have no prior experience with ghosts. Silly as it seems, I do believe in them though.
“I don’t think they’re evil and I don’t think they’re here to hurt people. But just the thought of their presence in my home scares the living daylights out of me.”
Her Facebook post gained 500K likes and hundreds of other parents said that her story is very relatable.
