A Mother Finds Python Hiding In One Of Her Shoes After A Trip To Australia

A woman was unpacking her things after a visit to Australia to see her daughter and son-in-law when she discovered she had brought back more than just good memories and selfies.

The Scottish woman found a python hiding inside one of her shoes.

The reptile had managed to make its way into Moira Boxall’s luggage and the plane undetected. It even shed its skin during the 9,000-mile flight!

Paul Airlie, her son-in-law, said to ABC Australia that as Boxall was preparing to leave from Australia at the end of her visit, she saw a snake in her room.

She searched the entire room but couldn’t find anything, so she decided to pack her things up.

It wasn’t until the mother arrived back at her home in Glasgow and unpacked her belongings she discovered where the reptile was.

“She was not at all expecting to find the snake when she was unpacking,” Airlie said.

Boxall thought the reptile was a fake and assumed her daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, had put it in her shoe as a prank. But the reptile moved when she poked it.

Fortunately, the snake that hid into one of her shoes was a spotted python, which means it is not poisonous.

The spotted python, one of the country’s smallest snakes, can grow more than 4 feet, according to the Australia Zoo. They are often found in woodlands, near caves along the coast, and in shrubs.

Even though the snake didn’t pose a threat to Boxall, she said she’s hesitant to visit the country again.

Airlie said: “We had to get a friend to go and unpack the rest of the bag for her in case there was another one.

“She said she’s not so keen to come back and visit, but I suspect she will — she’ll have to think about it at first.”

The snake was quarantined in Scotland and is expected to be taken to a zoo, according to ABC Australia.
