Natalie Jones was last seen leaving a party in Jackson’s Gap, Alabama. She was last heard early July 5 when she texted her friend to say she made it home.

Officials said Jones had been chatting with someone on social media that night. Heard County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Danny Boswell said that her phone last pinged in Franklin, Heard County ‘in the opposite end of the county from her home.’

Jones’ grieving mother, Elaine Gordon, said to WSB-TV: “I lost it, I really did. I started screaming. I started hitting the mattress. I put a hole in the wall.”

In an interview with The Newnan Times-Herald, Heard County Sheriff Ross Henry said physical evidence suggests that the mother’s pink Chevy had been in the woods from the time of her disappearance.

“Who in the world would try to move a car that they have hidden for three months?” Henry wondered. “If they had moved it, they would have had to have a helicopter to to set it in there, and to put bushes around it. Clearly, that was just not the case.”

The sheriff added that while the location is being treated as a crime scene, they have found no evidence that suggests foul play.

But Gordon believes her daughter had been abducted amid custody battle. “I know we had 10 cars out and everyone of them passed that spot where her car was found,” she said.

Henry said that most of the search attempts focused on the western and southern parts of the country, adding the tall field where the mother’s car was found is not visible from the road.
