Mother-Of-Four Mauled To Death By A Pack Of Dogs


A mother-of-four was found dead after getting mauled by a pack of dogs while walking outside.

36-year-old Ruthie Mae Brown from Nauvoo, Alabama, was walking down the Jagger Road when she was attacked by a pack of dogs consisting of what authorities believe to be at least seven animals.

Following an hour after the attack that took place around 2 pm on Monday, the mother of four sons was pronounced dead by Joey Vick, the Walker County Coroner.

As the Daily Mountain Eagle reported, the coroner confirmed that the woman suffered severe trauma during the attack. The official cause of death is yet to be announced.

As the Walker County Sheriff’s Office said after the attack, witnesses reported seeing at least seven dogs around the time of the attack.

“I’ve seen a dog bite, I’ve seen a dog attack but I’ve never seen a situation just as horrible as this,” T.J. Armstrong, the Office’s public information officer, said in an interview with ABC 33/40.

According to the PIO, police officers are still searching for some of the animals involved in the attack whereas they have allegedly already caught at least four dogs.

While the attack is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office believes that the dogs responsible for the brutal attack on the mother are pets.

Speaking of the aggressive pack of dogs, a local named Robin Johnson told the outlet how she was almost attacked by the same pack in the past.

“I actually had a stick in my hand which I know the owner’s name and I would call the owner’s name and they would back off,” Johnson told ABC 33/40.

“They’re really aggressive dogs. They were very aggressive. If I wouldn’t have known the owner’s name it probably would have happened to me.”

Following the tragic attack, Sheriff Nick Smith confirmed that the dogs behind the attack will be taken in by Walker County Humane Society.

As of this writing, it is not clear if the dogs’ owner will face any criminal charges as there is no existing leash law in the county. The decision of whether to file criminal charges or not falls down to District Attorney Bill Adair.
