33-year-old Chiara Pasic took the life of her 3-year-old son and tossed the body in a river so she could go on holiday.
The heartless mother lost an appeal at the court to have her sentence reduced.
In 2018, she was convicted of the murder of her son and imprisoned for 33 years. But her lawyers launched an appeal as she said her sentencing was unfair.
Pasic killed 3-year-old Denis before tossing his body in the river. She showed no emotions when she was sentenced to 33 years in jail and 2 years in a psychiatric institution.
Her accomplice, a 15-year-old girl, was also sentenced to three years in a youth detention center.
The teen reportedly covered the child’s face with a pillow while Pasic restrained his feet and arms. The two then threw the body in shallow waters at a harbor in the seafront city of Pula.
A few hours into questioning, the mother confessed to her crime and showed police where she had thrown the body.
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia said that the mother showed such cold-blooded planning and ruthlessness when the act was committed that the previous sentence is justified.
The highest court dismissed the mother’s appeal and confirmed her 33-year sentence. According to local reports, Pasic is unable to appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia.
