A mother was mocked and lectured by ‘perfect’ parents after sharing pictures of processed foods consisting of snacks that she bought for her children after the school started.
“Did my back to school shop today! $228 and it will last me almost all term,” the mum wrote as she shared her achievement in a group called Aldi Mums.
While several parents praised the mother for her organizing and money-saving skills, dozens of them accused her of bad parenting and said she shouldn’t feed her kids “junk foods.”
“Why would anyone feed this much sugar and junk to their own children??” someone said.
“Nice but mine won’t be having processed stuff,” another one commented.
After the post went viral, the mother quickly defended her actions, saying she “couldn’t care less what your kids do or do not have. My kids have this in their lunch and I’m not going to deprive my kids of snacks just because your kids aren’t having any.”
In her pictures, the mother showed off everything from cookies to bread snacks to lollies. Later on, she also claimed that her children get all the nutrients they need and that junk foods aren’t the only thing she’s feeding them.
“I don’t need negative comments about processed foods. My children get 2-3 pieces of fruit, a sandwich and cut up cucumbers in their lunch boxes every single day,” she added.
“My kids don’t just eat junk and I make sure to feed them veggies in 6/7 dinners weekly.
“I am not going to sit here and let people criticize my parenting because I allow my children to eat processed foods. If you have nothing nice to say regarding my choices please scroll on and keep your opinions to yourself, thanks.”
