Emma and Daniel Millar welcomed their baby daughter, Remi Frances, at 38 weeks, meaning that the mum wasn’t even full term yet when she gave birth to the giant baby.

With average Australian baby weighing just slightly above 7 pounds, the Sydney-based couple were surprised when they were told that the baby already weighed almost 9 pounds at 35 weeks into the pregnancy.

“She’s like a mini sumo wrestler. I did expect to have a larger baby as I had gestational diabetes but not this big,” Emma said in an interview with Illawarra Mercury.

“At 35 weeks an ultrasound revealed she was about 4kg (8.8lbs) but we didn’t think she’d grow that much more.”

As the parents revealed, their other two children, a boy and a girl, were also born heavier than expected with Willow weighing 8.4 pounds and Ace weighing 12.1 pounds.

“When I’ve walked around with her there’s always a crowd of people – midwives, other new parents and visitors – around her, asking about her size because she’s so much bigger than all the other newborns,” the father added.

In addition to not being able to handle a normal delivery with Remi, the mother revealed they were forced to buy a bunch of new clothes due to the baby’s large size.

While 13 pounds sure is a lot of weight for a baby, it isn’t even close to the heaviest baby ever born.

According to the reports, the heaviest birth belongs to Anna Bates whose newborn weighed a staggering 22 pounds and 8 ounces. In addition, the baby boy measured 28 inches in length. Sadly, however, he died just hours after the birth that took place in 1879.
