A 23-year-old mother was found lifeless in Mexico only a day after she left her home in Texas on August 9.
Lizbeth Flores reportedly went to the Mexican border to visit her boyfriend. But when she did not return later that night, her worried mother called the Brownsville Police Department and filed a missing person’s report.
The body of the mother-of-two was found one day after she was reported missing.
According to local reports, Flores passed away from severe head injuries after she was tortured and beaten with a rock.
Investigators also found that her teeth were all removed and a part of her scalp had been taken.
The FBI is also involved in the investigation as the mother-of-two is a US citizen.
In an interview with Telemundo, Rubio said: “Losing a child is like having your heart ripped out. I feel very sad for what they did to my daughter.
“How they left her is what pains me. The pain that my daughter went through there at that time is what pains me.”
The mother is seeking help from Mexico and United States officials to take her daughter’s remains to Texas.
