As officers worked at the crime scene, the nearby Oak Run Middle School, the New Braunfels Christian Academy, and Veramendi Elementary School were placed on ‘a very brief lockdown.’

A statement from New Braunfels Independent School District Superintendent Randy Moczygemba, the 16-year-old girl is a student at New Braunfels High School while the 10-year-old boy was a fourth-grade student at Veramendi Elementary School.

“A crisis counseling team has been assembled at both schools and we encourage you to talk to your child about their feelings upon hearing this news,” Moczygemba wrote in a statement.

“Every child will react in different ways and we want to make sure they have the support they need.”

One person commented: “I don’t care how misbehaved a child or spouse is acting. Those innocent kids deserved to live their lives that hadn’t even had a chance to begin. What a selfish *beep*!!”

Another wrote: “There’s a whole level of sickness we can not understand, that this was the solution to the problem.”
