A mother-of-eight was forced to call the police after she received vile messages from haters who have sent her death threats and called her a ‘parasite’.
Marie Buchan has been targeted by trolls online after she spoke about her life with eight children, Birmingham Mail reported.
The 39-year-old ‘octomom’ from Selly Oak, West Midlands, said: “Some of the abuse I receive is just vile. They call me a parasite, a s*** and they ‘hope I die soon’. Others say I’m a ‘scrounger’ and I’ve had threats of men coming to get me and ‘teach me a lesson’.”
Buchan continued: “I don’t know what people get out of being so horrible but they must just get sick kicks.
“It is very hard at times to read that stuff and horrible for the children as well. When you are feeling low it can really make you sink even lower.
“It has got to stop. People don’t understand the impact on someone who is in the limelight. I have contacted the police before due to the threats.”
The mother, whose eight children are aged 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, and 20, fears she will never find work again after being dubbed ‘octomom.’
“Unfortunately I have been given the nickname octomum and that has stuck,” she expressed.
“It is definitely holding me back from getting a job.
“I have applied for a number of jobs. Employers seem keen at first but when they realise who I am, I am rejected.
“I fear I will never be able to shake the octomum tag off. I am stuck with it for life. I have ambition and I am hard working no matter what people say.”
She went on: “It is difficult bringing eight children up. It is really hard work.
“I have mechanic qualifications and I have recently taken qualifications in first aid. I would love to roll out my first aid knowledge to local primary schools.
“This is what I would love to do but I fear I will never be taken seriously.”
