After taking a compatibility test, however, the mum was confronted with shocking news as doctors told her that her blood type didn’t match that of her son.

“I … had DNA tests done behind Abin’s back. About a week later, we learned that Abin wasn’t our biological child,” Xu told the local media.

As the mother later also found out, three boys were born at the Huaihe Hospital of Henan University when she gave birth on June 15, 1992.

Somehow, the staff managed to mix up two of the babies, whereas Xu’s biological son, Awu, was given to the Guo family.

According to the reports, Mr. and Mrs. Guo were also made aware of the mishap that took place almost three decades ago.

“When I contacted Abin’s biological mother, she told me that she was a Hepatitis B carrier. Her son was meant to be given a high-dosage Hepatitis B vaccine shortly after birth, but it was wrongly given to my son instead,” Xu added.

“This has left Abin with such severe cancer at such a young age. This whole tragedy was caused by the hospital alone.”

To make things even more bizarre, Xu tracked down her biological son and reported the incident to the local police only to find out that Awu has been working for the department she reached out to.

“When the police first called my foster father, he thought it was a scam. But coincidentally, my biological mother reported it to the same police station where I work,” Awu said.

“They called me back to the station to verify details. There I met my biological father and my uncle for the first time. I was totally perplexed. I thought it was impossible for something like this to happen. It was a flood of different emotions. It’s very difficult to describe with words.”

As Awu went on to say, he’s going to visit his biological parents regularly without turning his back on his foster parents.

“They’re both my parents. I don’t want to upset either side,” he said.
