The mother who was found dead in her car alongside her young children likely died of overdose according to reports following days after the discovery of three bodies.
31-year-old Natalie Chambers was found dead alongside her daughters, 2-year-old Elise and 4-year-old Isabel, in her SUV in Farmers Branch, Dallas.
The mother was last seen alive with her daughters on Wednesday morning before the family took off to visit a park where they were set to meet with their friend.
However, Chambers never showed up at the Grapevine park and it wasn’t until Thursday morning the family was discovered lifeless in their vehicle parked at a parking lot.
According to InForney, the mom’s relatives informed them they got worried about the missing family due to Chambers’ history of drug abuse.
As one family member alleged, the mother was also suffering from depression which had gotten worse amid the raging pandemic.
“Natalie had struggled in the past but had gotten some help and was an amazing mom. Recently, during COVID she had become more depressed and had obviously relapsed,” the anonymous relative told the outlet.
“We are all devastated that the girls had to witness such a tragedy and suffer themselves.”
According to the reports, surveillance footage confirmed Chambers arrived at the parking lot with her daughters at 9 am on Wednesday. It wasn’t until 25 hours later that the family was discovered.
“Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the officers observed there were three occupants inside the vehicle and the tragic discovery was made that all three occupants of the vehicle were deceased,” Detective Steven Rutherford said in an interview with DailyMail.com.
As the authorities confirmed, there were no signs of foul play, and evidence suggests Chambers died of an overdose. Following her death, the young children likely succumbed to heatstroke due to temperatures reaching scorching 93 degrees on Wednesday afternoon.
“She fiercely loved her girls and was an inspirational mother. I always used to tell her I’m glad she did it first so I can steal parenting tips from her,” Natalie’s sister, Jessica Purcell, said in an interview with CBS Dallas following the tragic incident.
“Isabel and Elise were happy and so very smart and witty. Isabel got her mom’s sassiness and Elise got her humor. They were beautiful and perfect. Our hearts are completely shattered.”
