A 30-year-old mother from California has confessed to killing her three children before stealing a truck.
Liliana Carrillo told KGET-TV that she drowned her children because she wanted to protect them from their father, who she believes would have ‘abused them.’
The three kids, Joanna, 3, Terry, 2, and Sierra, six months old, were found inside the family’s apartment by their grandmother.
“I drowned them. I did it as softly, I don’t know how to explain it .I didn’t want them to be further abused,” Carrillo said during the interview at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility in Kern County.
I promised them when they were born that I was going to protect them. I hugged them and I kissed them and I was apologizing the whole time,” she continued.
“I loved my kids.
“I wish my kids were alive, yes,’ she said. ‘Do I wish that I didn’t have to do that? Yes. But I prefer them not being tortured and abused on a regular basis for the rest of their lives.”
Carrillo seemed to be under the illusion that she was giving protection to her kids when she spoke out.
“I wish my kids were alive, yes. Do I wish I didn’t have to do that, yes? But I prefer them not being tortured and abused on a regular basis for the rest of their life.”
Court documents showed that there was a bitter custody dispute between the mother and the father, Erik Denton.
Concerned about the children’s safety, Denton petitioned a court for custody and alleged that Carrillo was delusional.
According to the court filings, Carrillo’s post-partum depression started after she gave birth to her middle child. However, she stopped therapy and self-medicated with marijuana, Denton claimed.
In social media posts and text messages, the mother threatened to commit suicide and said things like ‘I wish I never had kids.’
She also believed that she was responsible for the Covid.19 pandemic, Denton claimed.
