A young mother and her children were found ‘strangled to death’ at their home.
37-year-old Seema Banu and her children Faizan Syed, 6, and Asfira Riza, 11, were found dead in their home in South Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday.
According to the Irish Mirror, the family may have been dead for many days before their bodies were found.
Gardai from the Armed Support Unit found the body of Seema upstairs in a bedroom with a cord around her neck.
The bodies of the two children were discovered in another bedroom.
All three bodies showed signs of strangulation.
Investigators believe that the mother and her two children were strangled to death but post mortems will later confirm the cause of death.
According to sources, Seema’s husband Sameer Syed, 36, was not home when the bodies were found.
In a moving tribute to the kids, Ballinteer Educate Together national school said that Asfira and Faizan will be ‘greatly missed,’ DublinLive reported.
Principal Orlaith Curran said: “This is a terrible tragedy for their family, our school and our community.
“We are deeply saddened by these devastating events.
“Our sympathy and thoughts are with the children’s family and friends. They will both be missed by all who knew them.”
The Educate Together national office said it was saddened and shocked by the “awful tragedy.”
“Words fall short of expressing the shock and profound sadness many are feeling when thinking about the children and family affected,” it added.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and classmates of the bereaved.”
Supt Paul Reidy from Blackrock Garda station said in a press conference: “The scene has been preserved. We’re treating the deaths as unexplained at the moment.
“The results of the post mortems will determine the course of our investigation.”
