Single Mother Left Red-faced After Car Wash Staff Shared Inappropriate Whatsapp Messages About Her


A 24-year-old single mother, from Truro, was left red-faced after car wash staff shared s*xual Whatsapp messages about her.

Emily George, a nursery assistant, booked her car to be cleaned at Truro City Car Wash.

 

The staff at Truro City Car Wash shared s*xual Whatsapp messages about Emily in a WhatsApp group.

Someone sent the screenshots of the lewd messages to Emily and she was left humiliated.

She said she felt like a “piece of meat”.

One staff member shared Emily’s Whatsapp photo in the group and said: ‘I’ll be down at lunchtime today I think.’

 

Another staff member said: ‘See if ya can get ya button mushroom some action oatsy’ while the third one added: ‘F*** sake mate if I was single I’d be smashing it here.’

Emily complained about the incident through Facebook messenger and she was told it was very disrespectful.

They added: ‘To be honest, the comments were flattering if unprofessional.’

The owner of Truro City Car Wash later apologized and asked Emily to visit them for an apology in person.

But, Emily denied saying she would feel uncomfortable.

 

Emily told Cornwall Live about the incident: “I had messaged them about a valet on my car for Tuesday at 1pm, then around 12pm I got a message from someone who happened to be on the WhatsApp group chat with those men, recognised me and thought it was out of order.”

She said she was humiliated and was very upset with the disgusting and unprofessional behaviour.

 

She called it ‘borderline harassment’ and said they think it’s flattering but it’s not acceptable.

She said: “I told them I’m not an object or a piece of meat.”

The owner of Truro City Car Wash, Daniel Morris, apologized for the incident and called it ‘stupid’ and said: “men need to stop this kind of behaviour.”

 

He said: “The motor trade is a male-dominated area and can be sexist, which I’m doing all I can to shut down in my business.”

He said the men involved in the incident have difficult backgrounds and aren’t used to the corporate world.

 

“Change is in the air and men need to stop this kind of behaviour”, he added.
