A Michigan mother has given her disobedient son a surprise of his life after calling cops on him because he refused to obey her.
According to Crystal Towns from Grand Blanc Township, she was tired of having to deal with her 13-year-old boy, Zachary, who refused to wake up and go to school every single morning.
As Towns explained, she has been working three jobs and didn’t have the time nor the energy to deal with her sleepy teen on one particular morning.
After the teen refused to get up and go to school for several minutes, the desperate mum called the police and begged them for help to ensure that Zachary would get to school safely as she was already late for work.
“I woke him up,” Crystal told WEYI. “He thought he was just going to not go and I said, ‘Nope you’re learning today boy.’”
While involving the police seemed extreme to some people, police chief Ron Wiles praised the mother and said that it is important for children to be in school in time.
“It’s our belief that kids who regularly attend school will have a better chance of staying out of trouble and staying on a path for future success,” the police chief said.
After the story went viral, other parents soon backed up the mother’s decision and praised her determination.
“She works THREE JOBS!” one commenter wrote. “I don’t have kids but I’m not about to judge this woman for utilizing the school resources that are available to teach her kid this lesson. I’m sure it’s a one-time Hail Mary maneuvere, and I’m sure it worked.”
“My mom did this to my brother when he was in high school,” someone added.
“She just found out he had been skipping school … One morning when he wouldn’t get out of bed, she called the school police and they came and escorted him to school; he never had a problem with getting to school after that day, probably from embarrassment.”
As Ms. Towns added after the incident, her son no longer has any problems waking up and getting ready for school in time!
