Kyzer’s ex-husband Timothy Jones Jr killed six-year-old Nahtahn after he broke an electrical outlet in their home near Lexington in August 2014.

Jones then killed eight-year-old Merah and seven-year-old Elias with his hands while he killed two-year-old Gabriel and one-year-old Abigail with a belt.

Jones was arrested at a Smith County, Mississippi, traffic checkpoint when an officer noticed a strong odor coming from the car.

Kyzer, who appeared in the courtroom for the first time, told prosecutor Suzanne Mayes she didn’t appear before because ‘I can’t handle it.’

She told in the courtroom that on August 28, 2014, she called Tim and heard Nahtahn crying.

‘Mom, I didn’t mean to,’ Nahtahn told her. Jones then said in the background: ‘You could have killed yourself son.’

Jones then hung up the phone. He then killed all five of their children and left their bodies on a hilltop in Camden, Alabama.

Jones is charged with five counts of murder but his attorneys are trying to have him found not guilty by reason of insanity.
