Peyton had a severe coughing fit in the intensive care unit at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and passed away as medics could not raise his blood oxygen levels.

His devastating death came only weeks after his aunt passed away from Covid-19.

Speaking to The Sun, the heartbroken mother said she tested positive for coronavirus on October 25 and both she and Peyton showed mild symptoms.

However, her son’s condition deteriorated his toenail and fingernail beds turned blue.

The worried mother rushed her son to a hospital where doctors found out that his oxygen saturation levels had dropped to 44 percent.

Franek, who works as a nurse, said: “I have never seen someone walking and talking with an oxygen saturation level of just 44 per cent.”

Her son was immediately placed on a ventilator and was given extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

But only two days later, Peyton’s condition deteriorated and he suffered a coughing fit.

“He had this big coughing fit and he basically started to hemorrhage in his chest,” the mother expressed.

Doctors tried to replace the ECMO tubes to increase Peyton’s oxygen levels, which caused his blood that had accumulated in his chest to splatter all over the hospital walls and the surgeons.

“It was all over the cardiothoracic surgeon and he just kept working,” Franek shared.

A team of four doctors and ten nurses desperately tried to save his life but they couldn’t.

“Never did I think this was doing to happen,” Franek expressed. “You don’t hear about kids getting Covid and it being that serious. I was just in shock.

“I hope people will take Covid more seriously and not say it is a political agenda or some type of fakes news or that it is the same as the flu,” she expressed.
