As Ms. Warburton explained, her 12-year-old daughter, Jessica Scatterson, wrote a “6 reasons to kill herself” note before taking her own life.

According to the heartbroken mother, her death was encouraged by the show 13 Reasons Why that follows the story of a teen girl who killed herself and left behind 13 reasons in an attempt to explain her actions.

Supporting this mum’s claims is a recent US study that concluded teen suicides have spiked by 30% following the release of the TV series’ first season.

“Jessica was watching this show with her friends and listed six reasons why she wanted to die,” the upset mother shared in an interview with the Mirror.

“It should be banned because my daughter watched it and it gives children the idea to self-harm.”

The girl’s suicidal intentions first came to light after she shared a picture of her foot with ‘RIP’ carved into.

After Jessica’s friends alerted the police, the authorities found the teen hanging in her bedroom. They also discovered a chilly note that presented her six reasons, including the name of an alleged bully, for killing herself.

Speaking of the suicide show, Greater Manchester-based Rachael said:

“Its intentions are to raise suicide awareness but I believe it encourages young people to commit suicide. All Jessica’s friends were messaging each other discussing the series. Parents should be warned not to let their children watch it.”
