A 31-year-old nurse has been killed in the street as terrified neighbors heard her screams during the coronavirus lockdown.
Victoria Woodhall was stabbed many times by her husband Craig Woodhall, who immediately fled the scene with their daughter and sons.
Mr. Woodhall was later arrested and fortunately, the kids were unharmed.
The 40-year-old former soldier is now in custody to be questioned about the killing of his wife, who he only tied the knot with 7 months ago.
Locked down neighbors contacted authorities as the drama unfolded, with one appealing for help on social media, saying Mrs. Woodhall had been murdered ‘in front of people in the street.’
Paramedics, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and police rushed to the incident but the mother-of-three was pronounced dead at the scene.
The couple just got married last year. Victoria, a keen long distance runner, was working at Rotherham General Hospital.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “A 40-year-old man is currently in custody after a 31-year-old woman was stabbed during an incident in Barnsley yesterday evening.
“Emergency services were called to Windsor Crescent, Middlecliffe, just before 5pm, following concerns that a woman had been stabbed.”
“Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead when officers arrived at the scene,” the spokesperson added. “The man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area today as officers continue to carry out enquiries.”
Officers have also been paying to a white Seat Leon as they believe it to be Victoria’s.
A neighbor said: “I feel so sorry for the children. They have lost a lovely mum. I understand that the couple were having relationship problems and might have been living apart recently.”
