As the shocked police revealed, “the grace of God” must have been responsible for making the baby survive the fall.

According to Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin, the mum-of-two initially claimed masked kidnappers ambushed her and took away her 7-week-old Shaylie Quinn Madden.

Krista described the alleged abductors as a black-haired woman and a red-headed man who were wearing ski masks.

Madden, however, wasn’t the one to report the abduction. She only spoke to the police after they were brought to the scene following an emergency call by an unidentified caller.

The qualified nurse claimed she barely managed to escape as the kidnappers drove off with her daughter in her silver Mazda CX5.

The deputies later discovered the car and sent out several K-9 teams in an attempt to track the suspects and the baby. Despite their frantic search, the authorities weren’t able to locate the missing child.

Only hours later, the officers received another call from a woman who heard the infant’s cries while picking up her mail. Her husband then climbed down the 75-foot ravine and discovered the baby who was miraculously alive.

“There’s no people down here,” the anonymous woman told the police. “We’re in a remote area. Somebody must have pulled up beside and tossed her like a piece of trash.”

After breaking the kidnapping claims, the police officers compared the data obtained from interviews and evidence and came to a conclusion that the mother faked the kidnapping in an attempt to hide the fact that she tossed the 7-week-old off the ravine.

According to the investigators, they believe the mum-of-two acted alone. She is currently being held in prison on $750,000 bond and is set to appear in court on May 28.
