Tearful Mother-Of-Five Called 911 At 2am Because She Had Nothing To Feed Her Six-Week-Old


A mother-of-five, who lives in Alpine, called 911 at 2 am as she didn’t have anything to feed her six-week-old daughter.

Shannon Bird, who is a blogger, called 911 in the middle of the night and told the dispatcher that her breast milk had dried up and she didn’t have any baby formula to feed her baby.

Her husband was away from home for work so she decided to call 911 in the middle of the night.

In the heartbreaking 911 audio obtained by KSL, the mother said she had been calling neighbors but no one answered.

She said in the audio: “I’ve never been in this predicament ever. My milk just literally dried out. This is my fifth kid and this has never happened.”

She said she didn’t have the baby formula in the house because she normally breastfeeds her children.

After the heartbreaking call, officers with the Lone Peak Police Department were sent out to Bird’s home with a gallon of regular milk.

When the officers realized her baby was a newborn, they told her they would go to buy an infant formula instead of the regular milk.

Footage from the officer’s body cam shows the officer saying: “We’ll be right back with some formula for your baby – she’s adorable.”

The officers then returned with newborn formula and didn’t accept money from the mother.

“That’s the same stuff we gave my daughter when she was first born, so hopefully it doesn’t upset her stomach,’ the officer said.

The 911 audio and the body cam footage are going viral online and people are praising the officers for their amazing work.

The department’s Facebook page wrote on Facebook: ‘So very proud of our officers and their dedication to duty.’
