Many people have probably suspected it for years but ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has just been voted the most annoying Christmas song in a poll in the UK.
A Huawei survey asked Brits to vote on what they think is the most annoying Christmas song, and it turned out that Mariah Carey’s popular song topped the list!
The seasonal song turns 25 this year and to mark its 25th anniversary, Carey has been doing her very best to get people into the holiday spirit months before the special day.
Carey pulled the starting trigger on the first day of November, writing on Twitter: “it’s tiiiiiime!” as she dropped a new version of music video for the famous Xmas track.
The singer also announced a deluxe anniversary edition of her album and also offered fans the chance to get ‘All I Want’ on cassette, vinyl, and CD for the first time ever.
The Mariah Carey Machine doesn’t show any signs of slowing down as the song has already been played 4.8 million over the last week! It also broke holiday streaming records last year after being played 11 million times on Christmas Eve.
However, there are signs that people may be tiring of listening to the same old Christmas hits.
York Gin recently announced that they would not be playing any of the cheesy Christmas songs in their branches to prevent their employees from ‘going stir-crazy.’
Other songs in the survey included “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid, “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Slade, and “Last Christmas” by Wham!
“I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” by Wizzard and “Fairytale of New York” are also in the list.
