Kids Keep Asking For More Pocket Money, So Mom Creates ‘Jobs’ And Makes Them Apply


A mom wanted to teach her children an important lesson about earning money, that’s why she came up with a brilliant idea.

Because her kids kept asking for more pocket money, mother-of-three Shakethna Marion McGregor created a hiring event where they could apply for household chore ‘jobs.’

This way, the kids have to work for their money just like adults.

“So, my children continue to ask for a new cell phone, an allowance, and to go places,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Yesterday I told them I’ve heard their requests and that I’ll have a surprise for them today when they get home from school.

“SURPRISE!!! It’s a whole hiring event! (laughing emoji) If you want it, work for it, earn it! And yes, I also have an in home credit union lol #ThisMomMeansBusiness #IWonderWhoWillGetFiredFirst”

Her post received over 210,000 likes and more than 35,000 comments. It was also shared more than 130,000 times!

She added: “Here are the 3 jobs I used with my own children.

You can create your own list of things to fit your family needs. Or I can do it for you (I’ll charge because…kids cost money lol)”

One Facebook user commented: “This is the best thing I have seen all day! Her kids will understand the value of this exercise when they’re older.”

Another wrote: “I love it. Early training, managing responsibility, self esteem and some allowance. She’s my hero.”

A third said: “My 12 year old sister started her own little cleaning business at home. She charges for chores or if we want our room cleaned or laundry done!
