It all started 20 years ago, when Ali Smith, mother-of-one, brought a Celebrations box and found ‘limited edition’ written on it.

Though the box contained her favorite Malteser chocolates, she quit the intention of relishing it.

“I bought the Celebrations because Maltesers are my favorite but when I saw ‘limited edition’ written on the box I couldn’t bring myself to open it,” Ali said.

“After that I got a bit obsessed and every time I saw limited edition chocolate or crisps I had to buy them.”

Ali’s collection also contains a variety of refreshments that are uncommon these days, such as green-colored Heinz ketchup and vanilla ice-cream flavored packets of Monster Munch.

Amassing 250 rare snacks wasn’t a simple task as Ali had to spend a lot of money to get some of them, especially the Marathon bar which she bought from eBay for £25 ($27.60), 20-years back from now.

Marathon is actually an older version of Snickers chocolate bars which remained in stores until July 1990.

However, last month, supermarkets have reintroduced Marathon bars which are supposed to be in the market till the end of this year.

“Marathon bars are my all time favorite, I was so annoyed when they changed the name,” the 43-year-old said. “It’s great that they’ve released these retro ones but they’re half the size they used to be.”

Ali’s dream assortment containing four bars of Mars, five flavors of Twix, ten varieties of Snickers and 17 different flavors of Kit Kat inevitably triggers the feelings of chocoholics.

Currently, Ali keeps her relishing collection in a suitcase under her bed.

Speaking of how difficult it is to preserve those rare chocolates, she said: “The collection is getting really hard to store because I can’t put it in the attic otherwise all the chocolate will melt.”

Ali said throwing them will be a harder task for her as compared to storing them, so she’ll never be doing that.

“I can’t bring myself to throw or give it away,” she said. “I think I’m going to do the opposite and keep adding to it instead.”

The fine collection of delicious chocolates is kept hidden from Oliver, Ali’s four-year-old son. “If he gets a sniff of it that will be it, the whole lot will be gone,” Ali said.
