Thirty-two-year-old Maritza Cibuls, a stay-at-home mom from Chicago, has recently revealed a hilarious encounter she had with a ‘ghost baby.

Last week, while her husband was out of the house for work, the mother-of-two put her boy to sleep at around 8:30 pm and came to her room to sleep.
But what happened next was enough to make her forget sleeping.
Just as she was about to go to bed, she had a casual look at the baby monitor and was terrified to see a ‘ghost child’ lurking next to her sleeping kid.
“At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me,” Cibuls told Buzzfeed News. “I tried to ignore, but it was really starting to creep me out.”
To keep herself from freaking out, she started to think of some logical explanation of the situation. “The rational part of my brain was telling me there was a logical explanation,” she said.
However, it was not that easy to just calm down.
Cibuls got terrified mainly because her husband was not there and she was on her own. Looking for help, she shared the picture of the scene with her mom, her husband, and sister.
Her husband suggested it might be their son’s doll. The mother then mustered up some courage and went to her son’s room with a flashlight in her hand to investigate the matter.
“I didn’t see anything unusual though,” said Cibuls. “I started feeling around for wetness to see if our drool theory was correct…there was nothing.”
Cibuls said that she did not want to wake her son up as he was a little sick and with him on the bed she couldn’t make sure what was the reality of the matter.
“Maybe it was a stain I wasn’t able to see correctly with just a flashlight,” she said.
However, to get a second opinion, Cibuls shared the photo on a Facebook group, asking “if they saw the baby too or if I was just going crazy.”
Eventually, noticing that nothing was actually wrong and her son was safe, she went to her bed but couldn’t actually sleep. The next day when she saw her Facebook post, she was astonished to see how the post sparked a heated discussion and everyone was asking for an update on the matter.
This time Cibuls went to her son’s room to investigate the matter thoroughly and find a logical explanation for the happening. It was when the actual reality of the ‘ghost baby’ uncovered in front of her.
“As soon as I went in the room and opened the blinds, it was so obvious there was something under the sheet. I pulled down the sheet and see this giant baby face looking up at me,” said Cibuls.
The ‘ghost baby’ actually was the tag on the baby mattress she was using on her son’s bed.
Her husband made the bed and forgot to put the mattress topper before changing the sheets and it created the terrifying illusion.
The story was absolutely hilarious and other parents in the Facebook group asked Cibuls to make it public so that they could share it further.
Cibuls did it and the story accrued hundreds of thousands of likes, comments, and shares.
A number of people who read the story said they would also freak out in such a situation.
One mother commented: “I’d be going in the room with a cross, some salt, and a gun…scooping up my baby and getting them right out of there.”
