Pregnant Mother Went Into Labor, Minutes Later, Doctors Discovered Problem With Her Placenta

Little Things

Making the decision to start a family isn’t easy for everyone.

While many people can’t wait to have kids, there are several things to consider first.

Babies are expensive. Medical care during pregnancy can be very costly. Once a baby is born, it’s constantly growing; it needs clothing, shoes, and what seems like an endless supply of diapers.

Baby needs to eat too, and though many new parents choose to breastfeed, many use formulas. And then parents still need to be particular about what they’re feeding their baby once they begin eating solid foods.

Not to mention, new parents lose out on a ton of sleep and still have to feed and clothe themselves.

Most parents, when they make the choice to start a family, count on having just one baby, and that is usually enough work as it is.

That’s why Katie and Chris Muchard were surprised when they found out they were having multiples. But what happened during Katie’s delivery is even more surprising.

The couple found out they were not having just one baby, or two, or three, but quadruplets. That’s a lot of diapers, clothing, food, and lost sleep.

Katie’s pregnancy was going as planned until about 20 weeks in. She began feeling sick and described the feeling as being “hit by a truck.”

She decided to go to the hospital suspecting that something might be seriously wrong. Her maternal instincts had already kicked in.

Unfortunately, Katie was right; something was wrong. Doctors found a problem with her placenta and decided to deliver the babies immediately.

The babies were delivered 10 weeks before their due date.

Katie underwent a caesarean section to deliver the quadruplets safely. She did something most birth parents never do: she delivered all four babies in four minutes.

Thanks to the smart couple and to fast-acting doctors, each baby was born healthy. But they did need to spend some time in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Katie is also feeling better, albeit exhausted from such an incredible birth experience!

Now both Katie and Chris are the proud parents of Lillian, Brian, Owen, and Mason.

No doubt, the experience was exhausting for the family that suddenly grew 200%!

We’re thankful that babies and parents alike are recovering from the unexpected birth. Not only is giving birth a draining process, but doing it suddenly and so quickly must have been overwhelming for Katie.
