A mother-of-four has ditched the job of a waitress and became a bounty hunter in order to pay off her massive medical bills after beating cancer twice.
Shanda Zapata from Colorado is a mother-of-four with a very dangerous job – she is on the hunt for the worst of criminals in order to pay off her $800,000 debt faster.
“I have been shot at, lunged at with a knife, attacked by pit bulls and even had drug dealers throw needles at me like darts. You never know what is going to be behind that door when you kick it down. Every day could be your last,” the hardworking 35-year-old mum said in an interview with Barcroft Media.
“You kiss your children not knowing whether that will be the last time you see them or not. But if someone threatens my life, then I won’t hesitate to shoot and it won’t be to injure. It will be to kill.”
While her life may constantly be in danger, Shanda admitted the paychecks are worth the risk. As she revealed, one of her gigs involved catching a suspected child murderer and she was paid $20,000 as a 10% cut of his $200,000 bond after apprehending the culprit.
“I’ve lost everything in my life and now been left with a huge debt,” the mother, who’s beaten cancer twice, added.
“But now I’m out there hunting some of America’s most dangerous criminals and making something of myself.”
As for her strategy, the 35-year-old said she makes use of her natural beauty to lure the culprits out of their comfort zone and share a few drinks with them. After the culprits let their guard down, she turns into a ruthless bounty hunter and brings them to their knees.
