Adam was born with a perfectly healthy brain, heart, and lungs. But his birth parents refused to keep him after he was born. They were down to two options: to kill their newborn baby or abandon him.

When Adam was born, his eyelids, nose, and hands were nowhere to be found. His legs were fused together. Although these problems were superficial, his parents refused to take him home.

“They said that if the doctors forced them to take him home, they would poison him in fear of being shamed.”

Raja and Jessica could NOT stand this. Raja and Jessica Paulraj, a married couple, were the doctor and nurse who treated Adam. They were outraged by this news. So, they decided to do the unthinkable: They decided to adopt Adam as their own.

Adam came into this world with a rare genetic disorder known as Bartsocas-Papas Syndrome. So, the couple took him to a specialist, where he received several surgeries. Unfortunately, the bills were very high.

Then, something incredible happened. The community joined together and came up with $100,000 for the baby who “no one wanted” in just one week. And now, for the first time, Adam is capable of closing his eyes and mouth.

“Is he perfect?”

Yes, he is already perfect. But he can “never” be normal by worldly standards, according to his doctor, John van Aalst.

But through the help Adam’s community has given him as well as the love and care Raja and Jessica have given him, he is now a happy and healthy boy!
