A young woman who works as an Instagram model has spoken up about her terrifying experience of when a stranger who claimed to be her ‘biggest fan’ showed up at her house at night.
As 22-year-old Vera Dijkmans from the Netherlands explained, she comes from a poor family and was raised by a single mum.
Despite a tough childhood, the Instagram influencer now has over 1.4 million followers and makes over $600,000 per year thanks to her photoshoots.
“When I was a teenager my dream was to be a backup dancer for famous artists. Between the ages of 14 to 18, my mental state hit rock bottom and I had a hard time getting my life together. It wasn’t until I was eighteen and went to LA when I knew what I wanted,” Dijkmans explained.
While she never looked back after her newfound career kicked off, Vera has admitted that some of her fans can be pretty weird.
“My fans sometimes tell me they would move to the Netherlands just to meet me once. They are mostly between the ages of 18-30 which is my main audience,” she added.
“While it is mostly men sliding in my DMs, it’s sometimes women too. I get around 50 marriage proposals a day. As far as gifts from fans, the weirdest thing I have received [was] a ring sent to me with a note asking me to marry the person.”
While there is no shortage of bizarre proposals, nothing scared the 22-year-old more than when a stranger showed up at her house in the middle of the night and started shouting her name.
“He went on for about 45 mins, then he left and I never saw him again. It was a terrifying experience,” Vera concluded.
