26-year-old Tales Soares has passed away after collapsing on a catwalk during a fashion show in Brazil.
He reportedly stumbled while he was turning at the edge of the stage at Sao Paulo Fashion Week. He tripped on a strap from one of the sandals he was wearing.
The audience at the Ocksa show first thought Tales falling was part of a performance. However, the model was then seen foaming at the mouth and medical services immediately went to the scene.
Emergency services tried to revive him as he was rushed to a hospital. Unfortunately, the young model was pronounced dead.
Tales was working with Brazilian modeling agency base MGT. A spokesperson from the agency said in a statement shared with news outlet Terra: “We emphasize that the model always had exemplary behavior. He was not a newcomer; he has already paraded in other editions of both SPFW and other important fashion events.
“Tales never presented or complained about health problems. He had a healthy diet (he was a vegetarian), did not use illegal substances and was in full condition to participate in the parade. And we ask for respect at this moment of deep sadness.”
Terra went on and said concerns had been raised about the availability of vegetarian options at the event as he may have gone a long time without having a meal.
However, organizers shut the claims down as there was vegetarian food on offer backstage.
The cause of death is still unclear.
Sao Paulo Fashion Week wrote in an Instagram post: “May God welcome you with open arms! Life is definitely a catwalk, we’re just passing through! Very sad!”
