Mississippi governor has signed a bill that sees transgender students banned from participating in female sports teams.

The ban will affect high school and college sports teams, whereas transgender athletes will not be allowed to compete against girls that were born as females.

“I never imagined dealing with this, but POTUS left us no choice,” Governor Tate Reeves tweeted after signing the controversial bill.

“One of his first acts was to sign an EO encouraging transgenderism in children. So today, I proudly signed the Mississippi Fairness Act to ensure young girls are not forced to compete against biological males.”

With his signature, Reeves ensured that the State of Mississippi became the first state this year to sign an anti-trans bill as a result of President Biden’s executive order that bans discrimination against transgender people.

“But for the fact that President Biden as one of his first initiatives sat down and signed an executive order – which, in my opinion, encourages transgenderism amongst our young people – but for that fact, we wouldn’t be here today,” the Republican governor insisted during a Mississippi Capitol ceremony.

The bill signing follows shortly after the governor vowed to ban trans athletes from female sports teams in order to “protect” biological females.

“It’s crazy we have to address it, but the Biden (executive order) forced the issue. Adults? That’s on them. But the push for kids to adopt transgenderism is just wrong.”

The signing of the anti-trans directive follows after the bill passed the state’s House in an 81-28 vote.
