Bhasha Mukherjee is suspending charity work she has been doing overseas to return to her job as a doctor. She had been crowned as Miss England last year.

Before she decided to compete for the beauty pageant, Mukherjee was a practicing junior doctor. She had been working at a hospital located in Boston, United Kingdom.

Seeing the desperate situations that her colleagues were fighting through caused a change of heart for Mukherjee. Like healthcare workers all around the globe, her colleagues at Pilgrim Hospital were struggling to contain and treat the virus.

She contacted the managers to inform them that she wanted to be back working sooner than planned. The hospital welcomed her back as a much needed hand in an unprecedented crisis.

Mukherjee had been doing charity work overseas before her decision to return to being a doctor. She said that she had been invited to Africa, Turkey, India and other Asian countries. However, she felt that it did not feel right for her to focus more on her work as beauty queen when she knew she could provide hands-on help.

In an interview with CNN, she told that even when she is doing philanthropic work, Miss England still needs to look beautiful. As meaningful as that was, she said she wanted to return and get straight back to work.
