A generous millionaire has started a campaign called ‘Twitter Philanthropy’ in which he is giving away sizable amounts of funds to total strangers.
Bill Pulte, the chief executive of private equity company Pulte Capital, is the grandson of William Pulte – a constructor who founded PulteGroup back in 1956 and went on to become a billionaire.
Bill started his Twitter Philanthropy project to help people who need money for basic necessities of life like food, clothing and shelter.
The 31-year-old is using Twitter to precisely target the recipients of his money.
Bill has a massive fan-base, consisting of over 637,000 Twitter followers. He gained the majority of the followers after he started the project, and he now calls his more than half a million followers his teammates.
He recently tweeted about the accomplishments he’s had in the last week, including buying a kid a birthday cake because his folks couldn’t buy one, providing basic necessities to a struggling family, buying a car for an amputee veteran, and giving $4,000 to a single mom to help her get rid of her abusive husband.
Also, Bill said he’ll donate $30,000 to a military veteran if his post was retweeted by the US President – which Trump did.
In an interview with Detroit Free Press, Bill said he decided to start Twitter Philanthropy while he was on vacation with his family.
“There is such hate and vitriol on social media these days, and I wondered how come we’re not using all of this technology for good,” he said.
“Because of the success I’ve had in business, coupled with my younger age, I felt that it was appropriate for me to try to champion social media for good.
“My experience has been that people are willing to give a hand and help their fellow Americans as long as they know that (the money) is going to be put to good use. And technology allows us to do that instantaneously.”
Bill has a team of more than 10 people, who filter the plethora of funding requests he receives.

Speaking to The Detroit News, he said: “Technology allows us to micro-target to people who are immediately in need.
“They can’t afford to pay for food or gas or electricity. Social networks have so much nonsense on them, it’s about time we started spreading positivity and love.”
