The father-daughter dance is a beautiful tradition of a bride’s final dance with her beloved father before she leads her new life with husband.
It’s a staple of every wedding, but recently we’ve seen some truly incredible ones.
Lately there has been a trend mixing up this traditional dance to have a new modern twist that you will see in the video below. It’s incredible but this one is definitely one of the absolute best!

Mikayla Ellison is a graduate from BYU, but is also still a member of the BYU International Folk Dance team. Recently, she married Cody, a current student at BYU.
While Mikayla is a paid dancer, her natural dancing talent didn’t just come out of nowhere! It seems her father is blessed with the very same talent.
The father-daughter dance at their reception starts out traditional and simple. The two are slow dancing to Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. However mere moments later the dance becomes way different than your typical father-daughter dance.
Mikayla and her father “Nate-daddy” perform a choreography that encompasses the evolution of dance that includes such notable moves like Hammer Time, the Carlton and even the “Bye Bye Bye” dance by ‘N Sync! The pair’s dancing is truly incredible, but Mikayla’s father isn’t actually a professional dancer like his daughter! He’s an everyday man which makes the dance so incredible.
You will be donning a grin as you watch them play through all of your favorite songs. This duo manages to excel at every dance they do and I’m absolutely stunned by the father’s ability to stay on his toes!
Shortly after the pair finished their dance the DJ gets on the mic saying “Somebody please put this on YouTube. It needs to go viral.”

And go viral it did, the wedding video quickly attracted millions of views from viewers across the globe blown away by the incredible moves. The father in particular impressing many for his amazing moves.

Nate says that this dance was his way of treating his daughter the way she should be treated — as a princess. We’re sure the popularity from the video going viral is a nice side bonus as well!
