Migrant Men Buying Children From Desperate Mothers To Speed Up Asylum Process

Authorities have warned about migrant men who are offering destitute mothers $350 for their children in their desperation to speed up the asylum process and enter the United States.

As the Mexican officials claimed, several men originating from “Central America or Haiti” had been spotted approaching poor Mexican families and offering them money in return for their children.

Under the pretense that the child they are with is their own; the migrants have better chances of having their asylum approved faster.

The warning followed after several refugees approached the Iglesia Evangelica Embajadores de Jesus, a Tijuana shelter, and offered desperate mothers money for their kids.

In an interview presented in the San Diego Union-Tribune Report, 44-year-old Antonia Portillo Cruz claimed she’s afraid to leave for work and leave her kids alone.

“I can’t go to work because I can’t take my eyes off my boys. They want to rob our kids so they can cross into the United States,” the mother claimed.

As the 44-year-old allegedly added, she received no offers so far. However, she is convinced that declining the migrants’ offers could very well lead to abductions.

“These are cases of desperation,” pastor Gustavo Banda of the Tijuana shelter said.

“Of course, the women have not accepted any of these offers, but clearly this is a huge concern because of the danger to the children.”

One of the witnesses of the horrific offers is a 15-year-old Haiti girl who “could not even imagine the horror before I came here.”

“I just wonder what happens to the kids once they make it across. It’s not like their mom or dad who will care for them no matter what,” she expressed.
