Three Shot After School Girl Opens Fire At A Middle School Before Being Disarmed By A Teacher

A schoolgirl reportedly shot multiple people after sneaking a handgun into her school and firing several rounds.

The tragic incident takes place in Rigby, Idaho, where a Rigby Middle School sixth-grader shot two students and a custodian after firing several bullets inside and outside the school on Thursday morning.

According to the reports, students and teachers ran for their lives after gunfire erupted at the middle school. As Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson explained, a female student started shooting after pulling a gun from her backpack.

The two students and one custodian who were shot by the sixth-grader are expected to make a full recovery as of this writing.

After the shooting started, a teacher managed to disarm the student and detain her until the police arrived at the scene.

As the case remains under investigation, the authorities haven’t revealed the girl’s name. They have, however, confirmed that the shooter was a female student and not a male student as some outlets originally reported. The motive for the shooting and the origins of the handgun used in the shooting currently remain unknown to us.

Following the tragic shooting, students were evacuated from the middle school and reunited with their parents at a nearby high school.

“Me and my classmate were just in class with our teacher — we were doing work — and then all of a sudden, here was a loud noise and then there were two more loud noises. Then there was screaming. Our teacher went to check it out, and he found blood,” one student recalled.

Meanwhile, Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin branded the incident “the worst nightmare” the school district could encounter.
