Michelle Obama will play an important role in Netflix’s upcoming food show for kids where she will appear alongside her puppet friends.
Called Waffles + Mochi, the show is intended for young audiences and will follow the food adventures of two friends, Waffles and Mochi, who dream of becoming world-class chefs.
After the pair meet Mrs. Obama, who plays a kind supermarket owner, they embark on a series of culinary adventures around the world.
The incoming series, which will air on Netflix on March 16, is one of six Netflix deals recently announced by the Higher Ground Productions, a production company by Michelle and Barack Obama.
Waffles + Mochi’s description reads:
“With the help of friendly new faces like the supermarket owner, Mrs. Obama, and a magical flying shopping cart as their guide, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions, traveling to kitchens, restaurants, farms and homes all over the world, cooking up recipes with everyday ingredients alongside renowned chefs, home cooks, kids, and celebrities.
“Whether they’re picking potatoes in the Andes of Peru, sampling spices in Italy, or making Miso in Japan, these curious explorers uncover the wonder of food and discover every meal is a chance to make new friends.
“Waffles + Mochi is an exciting invitation to get kids and grown-ups cooking together in the kitchen and connecting to cultures around the globe.”
While it remains unclear just how important Obama’s role in the show will be, the former FLOTUS is seen talking to her puppet friends and working in the garden in early photos from the show.
