When two generous and compassionate students came to know that a freshman at their school was being bullied for wearing the same outfit every day, they decided to gift him some of their own clothes.
The victim of the bullying, Michael Todd, had just been enrolled at Tennessee’s Martin Luther King College Prep in Memphis.
But inconsiderate classmates started making fun of his appearance, claiming that he wore the same clothes always.
Michael did try to explain to them that his mother couldn’t buy him a new dress but bullies are bullies, they know no logic. However, not all students at the school were bullies.
Two of the senior students of the school and players of the school football team gave away some of their own clothes to Michael, while another student caught the moment on camera.
The students, Antwain Garrett and Kristopher Graham, partnered up to select clothes from their closets, including a new pair of shoes and gave all the stuff to Michael.
Kristopher confessed that he was in the bully camp at first but he soon realized his mistake and decided to help.
Speaking to WHBQ-TV, he said: “When I saw people laugh and bully him, I felt like I needed to do something. I got some brand-new shoes I can give him and a few items.”
Kristopher planned the whole thing with Antwain.
They filled a box with new clothes they had and Kristopher also added one of his new pairs of shoes to it before delivering the gift to Michael in the school corridor.
Kristopher further said: “He wasn’t smiling or anything, and I was like, ‘I think this is going to make you smile, we’re in the same third period, and I apologize for laughing at you, and I want to give you something to make it up.’”
The whole thing was filmed by another student and was later posted to the social media where it went viral.
The student who shot and posted the video wrote in the caption: “We Did It Out Of Love, NOT For Clout.”
The video shows three boys, with one of them saying: “I bought you some shorts,” as the other replies: “Oh wow, oh my god.”
Speaking to USA Today, Michael said it was ‘the best day of my entire life.’
Thanking the generous boys, he said: “You guys are the best guys of my entire life.”
After the story went viral, other students from the school started gathering donations for Michael with some of them offering him to buy clothes of his liking.
Erica Williams, a spokesperson for the Frayser Community Schools, told People: “Antwain, Micheal and Kristopher are overwhelmed by the out-pour of support from our community and people from across the country.
“Unfortunately, situations that show students in need are not unique within our school because we serve a demographic where the household income is well below the state and national average.”
