The first lady looked sensational in the standout pink ensemble which included a $2,512 pink coat by Belgian designer Cedric Charlier and a matching blush-colored dress. Melania, who has been married to Trump since 2005, added sky-high blush stilettos to the elegant look.

The outing comes as the US president is facing heat from local media in the US after he announced he will take the extraordinary step of declaring a national emergency to fund his controversial US-Mexico border wall.

The White House confirmed the move after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Trump plans to sign a bipartisan spending deal to avoid another government shutdown and then declare a national emergency to fund his border wall.

She kept her jewelry simple, wearing her wedding band on her left hand and another platinum and diamond ring on the other.

Melania arrived at the Valentine’s Day event at 3 p.m. and stayed with the children for about 45 minutes.

The red and pink decorated room was divided into five stations: candy box decorating, candy bar, snow globes, ‘favorite things,’ and candy grams.

The children at the center sat around the tables, which were covered with pink table clothes, and the first lady happily joined them at each station.

Melania, who has enjoyed great joy in working with children since she was the first lady, warmly embraced a little boy named Amani during her visit.

The 13-year-old from Mombasa, Kenya, was responsible for showing her how to turn a wooden clothespin into a colorful clip. Melania had no problem reaching into the glass jars and taking candy for the children.

The movement drew both declarations of relief from legislators who wanted to avoid another government closure and a threat from Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the emergency declaration.
