In her recent visit to the UK, the First Lady of the United States seemed to be paying tribute to Princess Diana during an event at Buckingham Palace.

The 49-year-old dressed up in what was the favorite color combination of the late royal princess – navy and white.

Melania donned a custom-made white Dolce & Gabbana dress with a blue waist belt and collar while she used a thick navy band to contrast her white Hervé Pierre hat.

The First Lady completed her look with a pair of contrasting heels by Manolo Blahnik.

Viewers also noted how Melania might have taken the inspiration for her dress from the silver screen, comparing her to Titanic’s Rose (Kate Winslet) and Audrey Hepburn’s Eliza Doolitle from My Fair Lady.

Melania’s outfit perfectly complemented the chic Alessandra Rich blazer and skirt donned by Ivanka Trump, and the white dress worn by the Duchess of Cornwall.

Speaking of the First Lady’s color combination, celebrity stylist Rochelle White: ‘Navy and white is really flattering and works well in Spring/Summer.

‘It isn’t as harsh as black and white and comes across much softer. It has that trendy, classic sleek look what works well for many occasions.’

She said: ‘Melania’s outfit is well tailored and fitting but has a style edge that is suitable for her.’

The first couple were welcomed outside the Buckingham Palace by the Queen, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Charles.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, opted for a classic white dress with cream gloves, a purse, and a hat.

The Presidential couple joined the Queen, Camilla and Charles for a special lunch at the palace, after which they flew to Westminster Abbey to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
