Melania Trump kicked off a two-day trip to Wyoming to promote her youth initiative and U.
S. national parks. She met with Boy Scouts and rafted down the Snake River.
Before hoping on board the raft for a tour of the great outdoors, she first met with a group of boys. The First Lady donned black jeans, a turtleneck sweater and a puffer jacket as she arrived in the town of Jackson.
She greeted the uniformed scouts and posed for pictures for 20 minutes in Jackson as a crowd of several hundred people lined the sidewalks around the town square.
Melania and a group of fourth-graders rafted down the Snake River with the Teton Range as a backdrop. The First Lady looked extremely delighted as she enjoyed every aspect of the trip.
According to Daily Mail, ”The White House says that the first lady’s Wyoming trip is focused spreading the child well-being message that is a big component of the year-old initiative.”
Melania also took to Twitter on Friday morning to share pictures from her trip and wrote, ‘’Yesterday I met Jackson District @boyscouts at the elk antler arches in town square learning about their conservation efforts w/ Nat’l Elk Refuge. Explored #WY on Snake River w/ 4th graders observing the natural beauty of our lands. @NatlParkService #EveryKidOutdoors #BeBest.’’
Melania is expected to visit Yellowstone National Park also.
Melania’s Be Best program was founded in May 2017 and it is a public awareness campaign focusing on well-being for youth, and advocating against cyber-bullying and drug (particularly opioid) use.
President Donald Trump said her work on addiction issues was inspired, in part, by their son Barron.
”She has a son that she loves, and she wants to make sure that Barron doesn’t have problems, and she wants to make sure a lot of people in this country see the suffering, the horrible suffering,” he said at an administration briefing on opioid addiction last month.
