The 2004 film proved to be two things when it was released. One, it caused massive controversy all around the world. Although such controversies are to be expected when making a film about Christ, the reaction to Gibson’s take on the New Testament was especially strong.

Second, perhaps in part due to the controversy, the movie proved to be a big financial success. The film managed to rake in over $600 million worldwide, a respectable amount for any film and an especially tough figure to best as a film that revolves around religion.

However, Caviezel confirmed that Gibson has sent him a script for the sequel to the 2004 hit. In an interview with Breitbart News, the actor said he just received the third draft for a film that is likely to be the biggest film of all time.

When host Alex Marlow asked the famously religious actor about how portraying Christ in a film affected his life and career, Caviezel gave a honest reply. He first said despite the film’s enormous success, he was virtually removed from all casting lists following the release.

However, Caviezel said that his convictions as a Christian were much larger than his devotion to his career. In other words, he said even if his actions offended everyone in Hollywood and he became something to avoid, he does not regret his decision because all comes from God.

For those who have questioned how there could be a sequel to a movie that ended with the crucifixion of Christ, the film will focus on the resurrection aspect as the title suggests. How exactly this will de depicted is still unknown as the script is still being worked on.
