In this day and age when a social media post can go viral and almost instantly reach millions of people around the world, even an ordinary person will have a difficult time keeping anything secret for long.
And when you’re a celebrity, this pretty much means that nothing online is really private anymore as far as you’re concerned.
Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, is no exception to this fact as news has recently surfaced that she once exchanged secret online messages with Matt Cardle scant months before she first met Prince Harry.
Meghan was recently divorced at the time she started chatting with Cardle and The Sun revealed that the two began her online relationship with the X-Factor winner in 2015.
At the time, the then-36-year-old Meghan complimented the singer just before he prepared for a performance in West End. The Suits star wanted to meet a British man although she already had the attention of footballer Ashley Cole at the time.
A source revealed that Cardle became a follower of Meghan on social media after watching her in Suits where she made an impression on him as a “beautiful star.”
“He was stunned when she followed him immediately back and started messaging him,” the source said. “She said she was a big fan of his work.”
While the performer was “very flattered” by her invitation to meet up, he “ended up ghosting her” when he met his girlfriend.
One more source close to Cardle confirmed the online exchanges between him and Meghan. She also told him that she had watched him on The X-Factor.
