Meghan Markle turned heads at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on March 9 not just because of how stunning she looked but also because the green ensemble she wore bore a striking resemblance to the one worn by Princess Diana in 1982.
The 38-year-old Duchess of Sussex looked quite stylish in her last official engagement as a Royal along with Prince Harry before returning to Canada.
Markle’s caped emerald green dress was made by Emilia Wickstead and was matched by a hat with a netted fascinator by William Chambers.
In what was seen as a tribute to her late mother-in-law, Markle’s look closely resembled what Diana wore when she was pregnant with Prince William in 1982.
Back then, Diana was pictured at Trooping the Colour on Buckingham Palace’s balcony beside Prince Charles, the Queen, and Prince Philip. She gave birth to Prince William 11 days later on June 21, 1982.
The fan account “Princess Diana Iconic” quickly picked up on the similarity of the looks and posted a side-by-side photo with the caption: “New tribute in Meghan’s look to Diana.”
The post quickly got nearly 4,000 likes.
One fan commented: “I love both of them. They done lots of good thing for the world. One of them still survived in life, strongly supported by her significant others, and could make the other person really proud for having daughter in law like her.”

Wickstead is the favorite tailor of both Meghan and the Duchess of Cambridge. Meghan’s latest outfit is thought to be a bespoke creation.
