Meghan Markle ‘went mental’ at her personal assistant Melissa Touabti after she purchased the wrong color of blankets for a get-together party.
A source told the Sunday Times that after Meghan became engaged to Prince Harry, she hosted a party for his friends.
The former actress wanted embroidered personalized red blankets for every guest and instructed her PA to buy them.
“When they arrived, they weren’t the right shade of red for Meghan and she went mental at Melissa (Touabti),” the source told the Sunday Times.
The duchess declined to comment on the new allegations, the news outlet reports.
According to Mail Online, a spokesperson for the Sussexes has said that Meghan and Harry were “the victims of a calculated smear campaign.”
The claims come after Palace aides dismissed the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey as a “sideshow” that will barely register with the British public amid the Duke of Edinburgh’s health and pressing concerns of the pandemic.
“On Monday most people in Britain will be thinking about schools going back, getting the vaccine and, at the Palace particularly, looking forward to the Duke of Edinburgh coming out of hospital. This is just a sideshow,” they said.
After a hectic week of bullying claims and fierce denials, Royal staff said they are determined not to be dragged into a battle with the Sussexes.
Aides also described the mood at Buckingham Palace as ‘calm,’ with one source telling The Mail: “Most of what is said will be lost in the mists of time. History teaches us that only the interviewer wins from these programmes.”
Palace staff also said that they have no idea what Meghan and Prince Harry have said in the interview.
“We haven’t got a clue what they say in the interview. But there is determination not to play their game. There is a very clear sense right from the top that it’s best not to react,” the source said.
