The five medical workers who went missing for 45 hours have been found after their colleagues raised the alarm.
According to reports, Jessica Kolic, 29, Haydn Dodds, 29, Renae Walker, 31, Shaygun Narula, 27, and Gabrielle, left Alice Springs in a vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
When the group failed to meet up with their colleagues at a campground at Ruby Gap, their friends raised the alarm.
The campsite can also be reached with the 4WD-only Binns Track.
An aerial search for Binns Track and both the Stuart and Ross Highways started on Monday morning. The doctors were found walking on the Ruby Gap Park road almost 48 hours after they were last seen.
The group took a wrong turn and accidentally traveled along the dry river bed of Hale River before their white 2012 Toyota Hilux got bogged.
Two of the group members stayed to drive the vehicle back while the other three were flown by helicopter to Alice Springs.
Alice Springs Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said that the group’s disappearance was ‘completely out of character.’
According to BBC, Senior Sergeant Kerr said: “The people they were supposed to camp with are very concerned.
“We’ve had a number calls from family saying it’s out of character.”
The medical workers were scheduled to return to work on Sunday but when they failed to show up, their colleagues raised the alarm.
One internet user commented: “Our niece is in medical school in Australia, so I had to read the article to make sure they were found! I am glad they were not hurt!”
Another wrote: “Rule number one when lost in the out back. STAY WITH THE VEHICLE They were lucky. Thank goodness it wasn’t the middle of summer.”
